- A Kyo-kaiseki restaurant located in Higashiyama’s Nanzen-ji Temple area, Okaku En has a Japanese garden measuring roughly 4,000 m2 that lets guests enjoy the colors of the four seasons to the fullest.
- The garden was landscaped by Ogawa Jihei VII, also known as Ueji, who is considered a pioneer of modern gardening, and who also designed numerous gardens that are each a “Garden Designated as Quasi-National Place of Scenic Beauty,” such as those at Heian Jingu Shrine and Maruyama Park. A full view of this magnificent garden can be had from the historic main building, which was built in 1915.
- One more joy to look forward to is, of course, the many high-class, refined Kyoto dishes. The restaurant uses natural ingredients even for its seasonings, part of a dedication to getting the most out of everything that goes into each dish. Enjoy refined seasonal Kyo-kaiseki cuisine that carries on a legacy.
