His next stop is the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art, where Tadao Ando's architecture and an apple-shaped monument near the sea catch his eye. As evening falls, Akaishi strolls through Kitano, admiring its historic foreign residences from the Kitano Tenman Shrine. The twilight scene of the old Thomas house with its weathercock and the sound of a local's bicycle bell encapsulate Kobe's charming mix of sights, sounds, and breezes.
